ROCK HILL, S.C. (June 29, 2022)  – CORE autosport returns to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) this week for the first time since 2019.  The 2.459-mile road course outside of Toronto is a favorite of drivers Jon Bennett and Colin Braun but has been absent from the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship calendar the past two years due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

CORE is coming into CTMP with the LMP3 Championship lead thanks to a runner-up finish at Watkins Glen International last weekend. Considering CORE’s record of success at CTMP, the team is feeling extra confident and hoping to extend its points lead. It was only a few short years ago (2018) at CTMP that CORE earned its first-ever overall race win.

  • CORE and its drivers hold a 50-point lead in the LMP3 Championship
  • CORE has scored 8 podium finishes at CTMP including five wins (2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018)
  • CORE has qualified on pole at CTMP four times, each one with Colin Braun driving

“Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is one of Colin and I’s favorite tracks. It’s been disappointing that COVID took that off our calendar for a couple of seasons. We’re super happy to go back and it’s another step toward normal life. I look forward to seeing all the Canadian fans and it’s something that Colin and I look forward to every year.

“It’s a technical track, but super-fast with a lot of blind corners. It takes a lot of commitment and for some reason that resonates with Colin and I. Personally, I just like the area around Mosport. I love going to Canada and I especially love the fans and it’s always amazing to see how many fans turnout to celebrate our racing.”

“I’m looking forward to the Mosport weekend. It’s certainly one of my favorite racetracks. It’s so fast and has a great flow and rhythm to it. It’s a big challenge there to work through multi-class race traffic. I know it’s one of Jon’s favorite tracks too. We’ve had great success there in the past as a team in all the classes we’ve raced through the years.

“Confidence is definitely up going into the weekend. We’re coming off a strong race in Watkins Glen. These back-to-back weekends are tough on the guys, but I know they always dig deep and do a great job. I think being able to race back-to-back weekends as a group helps us get the continuity where we know what we need to improve, and we can focus on it the very next weekend. I think it’s helpful from that perspective.”
