SEBRING, Fla. (March 15, 2019) – CORE autosport will start the 12 Hours of Sebring, Round 2 of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Champinoship, from 11th on the Daytona Prototype International (DPi) grid.

Jon Bennett took the role of qualifying driver under sunny Florida skies at Sebring International Raceway. During the 15-minute qualifying session, Bennett was able to turn a lap of 1:50.029 (121.074mph). The time puts the No. 54 Nissan Ligier DPi 11th on the grid for Saturday’s race.

Bennett will share driving duties with Colin Braun and Romain Dumas in the 12-hour event, which is part of the Michelin Endurance Cup. The trio finished fourth in last year’s race and are coming off of a third-place finish at the 24 Hours of Daytona.

The race goes green at 10:40am on Saturday. Live TV coverage will be shared by CNBC, NBC Sports and the NBC Sports App.

JON BENNETT
Driver: No. 54 Nissan Ligier DPi

“We had a good qualifying session. I’m super happy to be in a Nissan DPi and between our test a few weeks ago and the work we’ve done in the past couple of days, the car is really good. It goes without saying that the competition in IMSA is world class and it’s pretty great to be a part of that.

“I put in a pretty good lap. I think the work that Romain, Colin and the crew have done has given us a strong car.

“One of the magic things about racing is that the track is never the same as how you left it. We’ve had to deal with different series racing on the same track and putting down rubber before our race, so having the WEC race the night before shouldn’t be much different. We’ve been able to achieve a real sweat spot in the car, so I don’t think it will be a problem.”
